GRAZ, AUSTRIA – Sales growth, company expansion, congress involvement and innovations: all have become rare in recent years. But not at the Graz robotics specialist Tyromotion. With sales growth of 27%, an increase in production and office space, a strong presence at trade shows worldwide and product innovations, the company is making a name for itself across the country and globally.

Highest sales since the company’s foundation and expansion
“The pandemic has unfortunately been something of an obstacle to our growth plans. With a 27% increase in sales compared to the previous year, we are now seeing a turnaround and the start of further growth”, CTO Alexander Kollreider and CSO Wolfram Veitl are delighted.
In response to that growth, earlier this year the company significantly expanded its production and office space at the Graz headquarters and created a new, attractive reception and lounge area for its 93 employees.

A conveyor belt of innovations
Since its foundation, Tyromotion has regularly brought new products to market and has strategically established an intelligent overall concept for neurorehabilitation: TyroTherapy. Intensity, doseage and motivation are the three key aspects of TyroTherapy and allow patients to work sooner and more intensively on regaining their abilities – in a more enjoyable way.
The Tyromotion product range consist of nine therapeutic devices for the rehabilitation of the entire musculoskeletal system. Neurological patients, for example those who have suffered a stroke or traumatic brain injury and patients with MS, Parkinson’s disease or cerebral palsy, benefit from the integration of technology-based devices into daily treatment.
The latest product updates have added new features:
- patients with paralysed fingers or hands can actively initiate movement in their fingers with the aid of electromyography (EMG) at the AMADEO®. “After a stroke, it is very stressful for patients to have none or only limited use of the paralysed side of their body in everyday life. The AMADEO® works with EMG to allow patients to control their paralysed hand using muscle signals. This is a eureka moment for many patients”, says CTO Alexander Kollreider.
- Functional electrical stimulation (FES) amplifies muscle signals and enables patients to exercise more intensively with the same amount of time, force, coordination and endurance in their legs on the OMEGO® Plus.
- Virtual reality on the LEXO® gait trainer leads patients through colourful landscapes during therapy. Gamification turns monotonous movements into a motivating experience.
A global player in medical technology
“There has unfortunately been very little exchange or networking over recent years. Therefore it is great that we will be participating in some of the largest international trade shows and conferences in the field of neurorehabilitation in 2022”, says CSO Wolfram Veitl.
Alongside two major trade shows in the USA and others in Germany, Austria and Portugal, Tyromotion is focusing on this year’s RehabWeek in Rotterdam. The goal for the conference is to strengthen the company’s position as a global player and present the entire product range. A large team will be in attendance to meet with customers, partners and experts.
Tyromotion profile
Tyromotion’s vision is to give patients with neurological restrictions their independence and quality of life back. Modern technologies such as robotics, sensors, virtual reality and gamification are an effective and motivating constant throughout the rehabilitation process.
More than 90 employees, 40 sales partners and a 20% re-investment rate in research and development are guaranteeing cutting-edge, quality innovation.
